Not all older men know how prostatitis manifests itself, so few people pay attention to the initial symptoms of this disease. At the same time it is one of the most common urological pathologies today, therefore it is imperative to get acquainted with its characteristics and manifestations. It is widely believed that the disease is typical of men in adulthood, but today this disappointing diagnosis can be made to quite young people aged 18-20 years.
Simplicity is an extremely vulnerable organ for the penetration, development and spread of pathogens, due to which diseases of the bladder, urethral walls, vas deferens and other organs and systems adversely affect it.
What is the first thing you need to know about prostatitis?
To know exactly how to diagnose prostatitis, you must first get acquainted with the basic characteristics of this disease. This is an inflammatory process localized in the prostate gland. Inflammation is usually caused by infectious microorganisms that can enter the prostate in a variety of ways. At the same time, prostate infection will not always indicate the onset of prostatitis. A combination of certain factors is needed for the pathology to begin to manifest.
Symptoms of prostatitis can start to appear for the following reasons:
- Stool problems (for example, frequent constipation or other similar illnesses).
- Sedentary lifestyle (at work, at home), little physical activity and stress. Given this factor, the risk group includes men who perform various professional activities: drivers, programmers, office workers.
- Body hypothermia (systemic or single).
- Prolonged abstinence (lack of sex life) or too active sex life. The manifestation of signs of the disease is possible with normal sexual activity.
- Frequent stress and depressive states, disturbances in the psycho-emotional and psychological background of a person.
- Problems with food intake (frequent overeating, preference for spicy, smoked, salty foods, alcoholic beverages, lack of at least some kind of diet).
How is prostatitis most common?
The treatment of this disease is often not difficult, as prostatitis can be detected in the early stages, knowing about all its possible manifestations. It should be immediately noted that it is common to distinguish between chronic and acute forms of pathology.
- If an acute form of the disease begins to develop, then the main symptom of prostatitis will be the presence of inflammation in the prostate area. The inflammatory process in this case will inevitably be accompanied by a rise in body temperature (often up to 39-39, 5 degrees), pain in the groin and perineum, pain during urination and defecation.
- The chronic form of the disease, oddly enough, rarely worries patients (except in cases of exacerbation). That is why many men simply do not pay attention to the manifested male prostatitis. In the period of exacerbation of the disease, the patient may experience a slight increase in body temperature (up to about 37-37, 5 degrees), discomfort and unusual sensations during urination and defecation, the presence of a relatively small amount of purulent or mucous contents of the urethra. Given the insignificance of such manifestations, many men attribute these symptoms to other pathologies, as a result of which treatment and referral to specialists is postponed until the last.
Signs of illness
The signs of prostatitis in men are very specific and indicative, therefore, knowing them, the patient can independently suspect the manifestations of this pathology, consult a doctor in time and start timely treatment. There is even a certain syndrome of dysuria, which will clearly show a high probability of pathology in humans. Six main characteristics can be distinguished at once, which in different cases can occur all together or separately.
But in cases where there are 2-3 signs, this already becomes a serious reason for immediate appeal to the urologist:
- Problems urinating (difficult to urinate, urine dripping).
- The flow of urine is quite slow, falls down, has a small range, the patient cannot physically strengthen it.
- Pain during urination.
- Increase the duration of urination, separation, periodic flow, spraying in different directions.
- After urinating, you feel that your bladder is not completely empty.
- In the evening and at night it becomes necessary to go to the toilet more often.
If a man has any of these signs, you should not make sudden clinical conclusions. This is due to the fact that no matter what symptoms occur, prostatitis has a rather complex pathogenesis, so it is better to entrust the diagnosis to a qualified specialist.
Therefore, it is strictly forbidden to start treatment of the disease, relying only on well-known symptoms. You can clarify the symptoms and how exactly prostatitis manifests itself in men in each urologist, who, in order to make a diagnosis, will necessarily take into account not only the symptoms, but also the results of laboratory and instrumental tests.
Main symptoms
As noted above, the disease can be chronic or acute. Frequent urination is a common and one of the most important symptoms. A healthy man usually experiences no more than 10-11 urges to urinate during the day (normal frequency is 5-6 urges).
As a result of the development of inflammation of the prostate, a negative effect on the bladder occurs, due to which the following symptoms will appear in the presence of the disease:
- Increase the number of urges (while the daily volume of urine remains the same).
- Urine comes out in small portions, which is associated with receiving false signals from the receptors of the bladder due to the presence of an inflammatory process. Also, therefore, there may be a feeling that the bladder is full even after emptying.
- Pain during urination, which is caused by narrowing of the urethra due to the inflammatory process in the prostate.
- Difficulty urinating due to compression of certain areas of the urethra from inflammation. In some cases, men cannot empty their bladder at all.
- At night, the walls of the bladder begin to give false signals, which increases the number of trips to the toilet during sleep.
Prostatitis can be diagnosed in part by monitoring body temperature, combined with urinary problems. If these problems are accompanied by a rise in temperature to subfebrile and febrile values, then we can speak with a high degree of probability of the development of pathology. It is important to note that in the later stages of the disease, on the contrary, there may be a decrease in body temperature to 35, 5-36 degrees, which in any case is an extremely negative and dangerous symptom that can notbe tolerated.
In the middle stages of the disease, blood may be present in the patient's urine. This characteristic is relatively rare and often not indicative, but extremely dangerous. It can begin to appear due to purulent fusion of the prostate, trauma to the prostate gland, as well as in cases of complications of the inflammatory process with hyperplasia. The cure in this case is complicated (surgery is often required).
Treatment should be started as soon as the first symptoms of the disease appear. If there are at least some, albeit seemingly insignificant, problems with urination, which in some cases are accompanied by fever and pain in the area of simplicity, then you should immediately make an appointment with a urologist to clarify the diagnosis. It is imperative to pay attention to the signs of pathology described above, as the defeat of prostatitis is possible quickly and painlessly only with timely treatment.
